Registration Deadline: 10/1/2007 Fall Registration is Here! It’s that time of year again; time to get back in the swing of things with your Girl Scout troop. Remember, your registration will expire on September 31st, so all troops who are returning will need to register by the first service unit meeting – September 17th, in order to process the registrations and get them to council on time. We are trying to make things easier for you, so for a limited time you can drop off your registrations in the township at the house of Lisa Williams (3823 Hickory View Drive), or in the city at the house of Mary Ann Lorenz (1358 Tolleywood Drive). You can even bring them to the service meeting on September 17th. For your convenience, the following registration packets are now located in the township at Lisa’s house: 3666 - 3667 - 7723 - 8216 - 8219 - 8285 - 8666 - 8887 - 9261 - 9263 The following packets are located in the city at Mary Ann’s house and will be placed in her bin - please feel free to stop by at any time and pick your packet up : 150 - 781 - 1207 - 1372 - 1374 - 1377 - 1594 - 4296 - 4574 - 5907 - 5911 - 6235 - 6901 - 7567 - 7571 - 8283 - 8284 - 8664 - 8886. Should you need additional forms those are available as well. Please do not forget that you will need to have at least one registered 01 before the troop can be registered. Please make sure that you check for racial background and ethnicity on all forms. Anyone who registered last year should have a pre-printed form in your packet, all new girls and adults will need blank forms. Please also make sure that forms are signed by a parent or legal guardian, and finally that you have attached a Dues Summary to the group. Just a reminder that Mary Ann does not need the yellow copies of the girl/adult forms – She does need both copies of the Dues Summary - save yourself and her some time by keeping these records for yourself. For those of you who have already registered, your early bird registration patches and cards are ready. You can pick those up at the Service Unit Meeting. If you have further questions, please contact Mary Ann Lorenz at malorenz@cinci.rr.com. Thanks, Mary Ann Lorenz, North Star Registrar ---------------------------------------------------------------- Checklist for RegistrationsTo ensure a trouble-free registration with no holds by Council, please verify each form has the following: 1. Make sure forms are complete – especially signatures, school, etc. 2. On blank forms, be sure and complete the Council code (228), troop number and Report Code (651) in the box in the lower right of each form. 3. If race and/or ethnic have not been completed, you must do a visual survey (VS) and complete the lower right box on the registration. (See the instructions on the leader guide) Race & ethnicity must be completed or Council will place the registrations on hold! 4. Please do not separate the copies! I must process them, and then they go to council for their processing. Copies will be returned back to me, and then to you. 5. A Membership Dues Summary must be completed and included with each submission. 6. On the Membership Dues Summary, there are three ways to register: Troop, Interest Group (for Studio 2B) and Individual (if you are not affiliated with a troop). The others don’t pertain to our council. 7. On the Membership Dues Summary, if your troop is the grade 6-12, please write “CD”, “SR”, or “S2B” next to that category. This will help your consultants. 8. On the Membership Dues Summary, please make sure the information for the troop’s leader/adviser is the 01 for the troop, not the person completing this form. 9. If the 01’s registration is not attached with the troop’s initial registrations, give an explanation at the bottom of the Membership Dues Summary: “01 is a LTM” (lifetime member) or “01 is registered with Troop ____” 10. Individual Membership Subsidy Forms are to be completed and submitted only for those girls who are requesting funds from council based on financial need. ------------------------------------------- Protect Yourself! Though not required, I highly recommend not including cash with your registrations. It protects you, as you have a way of tracking your money. If you receive cash for registrations, deposit it in your troop account and write a troop check to cover the registrations. Checks can be replaced, cash can’t! --------------------------- Subsidy Forms & Registrations – quick notes: 1. Generally, for those girls and adults who are new to a troop and can’t afford the expense, or a new troop that doesn’t have sufficient funds in a troop account to cover their expenses. 2. Existing troops – Registrations should be budgeted into the year’s program expenses and that amount set-aside for next year. See Safety Wise, Chapter 3 on Group Planning & Budgeting. 3. Page 28, Safety Wise – Example of a Budget Sheet for troop – includes national dues as a budgeted expense! ------------------------------------------- “Food for Thought” - Cookie Dough may be used to pay for registrations! ----------------------------------------------- A Reminder -Anyone that hasn't been an 01 or 02 and wants to register as one must complete a Leader Application and background check and be approved by council before registering as an 01 or 02. For your convenience the application and background check links are online at Council’s website (www.grgsc.org).
