Welcome to the Daisy's Webpage! Information specifically geared toward Daisy Troops will be posted here.
Bridging Information- DAISY BRIDGING – Harbin Park Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 6:30pm
Girl Scout Daisy Bridging will help girls make the transition from one level to the next. Can a girl move onto another age level without bridging? Yes, she can, but there are many reasons for troops to go through a bridging process.
Bridging Ceremony This is the ceremony where the girls move up to Brownie Girl Scouts. If a girl decides that she doesn’t want to continue in Brownies, she is still entitled to bridge.
Daisy Bridging will take place at Harbin Park on Thursday, May 26th at 6:30pm. There is a Gazebo and a Bridge to the right, where we will be having the ceremony. All is invited!
At the Bridging Ceremony, each girl will receive their Bridging Patch and Membership Star with blue disk. *Note: A girl can move up to Brownies even if they don’t complete their bridging requirements, they just won’t earn the patch.
Bridge to Brownie Girl Scout Patch You must complete at the activities for the bridging steps: Bridging Step 1: Learn about Brownie Girl Scouting Bridging Step 2: Do a Brownie Girl Scout Activity Bridging Step 3: Do something with a Brownie Girl Scout Bridging Step 4: Help plan your Bridging Ceremony
Membership Star and Disk Each year that a girl is a member of Girl Scouts, she earns a membership star. These stars are to be distributed at the END of the year. Each level has a different color backing disk; the Daisy color is blue.
Brownie Pins Brownie Pins can be handed out at the Bridging.
Brownie Uniform Your troop will need to determine whether Brownie Vest or Sashes are going to be worn next year. A Brownie Uniform may consist of the American Flag patch, The GSGRC patch, your troop number, insignia tab, brownie pin, membership star with blue backing, and bridge patch. You will need all these items for the Bridging Ceremony.
Bridging Process I will call each troop number in alpha order. Once your troop is called, I will need for each leader and co-leader to stand on opposite sides of the bridge. The leader will call the name of each girl. The Daisy will cross the bridge taking off her tunic and handing it the leader. She will then walk across the Bridge to the other leader, who will help put on her new Brownie vest or sash. (It is a good idea to label the girls names inside the vest or sash prior to the ceremony!)
After the New Scout has received her vest or sash, three Brownies will then give them the Girl Scout handshake. (GS promise – Right 3 fingers held up and shake with left hand). The New Scouts will make a line in front of the flags until the entire Troop bridges. This is a good time to take a troop picture.
Refreshments It is up to each troop to decided if they would like refreshments after the ceremony. The most popular dessert was, you guessed it, Brownies!
